Clients call my hands "magic" because I am able to find issues, stretch out tight muscles, give them back range of motion and decrease pain levels. They want to meet with me because I give them the tools to reduce their pain level and keep their bodies healthy. They are excited to get a call from me because it means that they'll be on my table in 24 hours in a quiet, dark room, with soft music with me working on their problem areas and stressed muscles. They'll have an hour where they are the sole focus of someone else's attention - where their needs are the priority.
I believe in massage because of what I've been able to do for my clients. I've helped clients regain range of motion by myofascial, orthopedic, and stretching massage techniques. I've reduced the frequency of sinus headaches and allergy season congestion using lymphatic drainage massage. I've helped migraine sufferers reduce the frequency and length of their migraines with acupressure, fascial work, stretching and muscular work. I've worked with athletes to reduce their recovery time after races or long training sessions and helped them get through seasons without serious injuries. I've assisted clients in their recovery from orthopedic surgeries such as knee replacement, shoulder surgery, cosmetic surgery, breast surgery and achilles tendon repair. |
About Heather |
How did I get to this point? I grew up massaging friends and family all through high school and college. After receiving my BA from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY, I pursued a graduate degree from Vanderbilt University. Once I had my MA in hand, I promptly left academia to work in the software industry, eventually becoming a Software Quality Assurance Team Manager. I loved the puzzle of troubleshooting issues and reproducing problems and the constant challenge of managing teams of testers on multiple products, but something was missing. I started classes at Cumberland Institute in Brentwood, TN to learn more about massage and to leave work at a reasonable hour. And I kept taking class after class - engaged and fascinated by what I was learning. Thirteen years after receiving my license, here I am with a full-time private massage practice, doing what I love, learning more every day.

"Having been to Heather for months now, I can happily say she has done an excellent job of helping heal me for a number of ailments. Add to that, coming off of a full hip replacement last summer, followed by rotator cuff surgery, she has the knowledge to support this healing process. To the point, I was well ahead of schedule for my physical therapy with both surgeries. And have now received a complete recovery & been given the green light by both surgeons. Not only is Heather as a competent a masseuse as I've ever had, she is patient in working with your needs on whatever levels are required." B. D.
